BRITESPARK EAST TO TRAVEL FURTHER ON THE WORLD’S MOST SCENIC RAILWAYS

BriteSpark East, part of Argonon Group, today announces the recommission of The World’s Most Scenic Railways, for two further six-part series.

The Bill Nighy-narrated title was commissioned by Channel 5’s Daniel Pearl and the first series came to a close on Friday 29th November, having peaked at 1.7 million viewers so far.

The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys is a visually-arresting series, telling the stories of epic train journeys through the characters who travel, work and live near them.

Series two and three will continue the ambition to take viewers on twelve awe-inspiring train rides through some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth. Exploring the UK and far beyond across the globe, these scenic routes will take in unique and picturesque surroundings – from breath-taking coastlines, to remote mountains and river valleys

As well as highlighting the stunning natural beauty of the landscapes, the episodes will offer insight into the challenges faced by the trains and local people along the route – from coping with the impact of natural disasters, to migrating animals on the line, or passengers the staff deal with aboard the train. The series will also tell stories of how and why the railways were built.

The history of the railway, the people and goods they carry, and the places they stop, are as fascinating as the remarkable landscapes through which they travel.

BriteSpark Films’ Director of Programmes, Tom Porter, says: “We are thrilled with the critical and ratings success of series one and delighted to be making more of these beautiful hours of TV escapism.’’

Channel 5’s Daniel Pearl says: “The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys was one of Channel 5’s hits of the autumn. Millions of viewers have enjoyed taking a trip with us through some of the most stunning scenery the world has to offer. We are all very much looking forward to two more seasons of adventure.”

The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys will be two series of 6 x 60’ executive produced by Tom Porter and series produced by Clare Fisher, distributed by TCB Media.
