NYLON Part 2 : New York – London

I was one of the lucky winners of a holiday contest put together by Argonon. Myself along with one of the designers on “Man Caves,” Rhea Bundrant were picked as two representatives of the New York office to fly to London for the Holiday Party. Apparently 2012 was a lucky year for me- I won $100 from a radio station contest back in March, and now this- a round trip flight to London, hotel accommodations and the chance to meet my international co-workers.

Rhea and I showed up at the Argonon office (after miraculously not breaking an ankle walking down London’s cobble stone streets in heels) and were welcomed by Rebecca Garcia and the HR ladies Tamsin and Kerry who took us around the office to meet everyone. The office was in a cute building and everyone was working hard but took a minute to greet us, hear about our travel plans in London, chat about soc…I mean “football”, and give us a peak at a One Direction segment Remedy had produced.

After a quick tube ride, we arrived at the Golden Bee and headed upstairs for the party. The bar was decorated beautifully, with the highlight being the photo booth! I thought it would be awkward going to a party full of people whom I had never met, but everyone was extremely friendly, warm and welcoming. I got to meet people from all parts of the company- and of course CEO James Burstall who couldn’t have been a more fun, friendly and gracious host. Apparently Niall from One Direction was at the party, but I totally missed him (even though the next day I bought a mask with his face on it as a Christmas gift for my cousins).

As a freelancer for over ten years I’ve worked for many different companies, but none which had done such an amazing contest. Since coming on board as a director for House Hunters International and then switching to post producing, I’ve met so many dedicated and talented people in the New York office, and I am thrilled to have met the same across the pond. It’s refreshing to have bosses who not only care about putting out captivating programming, but also motivating and appreciating their employees.  I am extremely honored to be part of this company and grateful for this opportunity! I hope the London winners had as much fun as we had, and I know next year’s winners will be some very lucky and happy people!

Wishing you all very Happy Holidays!
