Tourettes: Let Me Entertain You premiers at 9pm on Monday 10th September on BBC Three, and is the first of a three-part series where six young people with Tourette’s syndrome set out to achieve something they have never done before – to deliver the musical performance of their lives in front of a live audience.
Following the success of the documentary Tourettes: I Swear I Can Sing, Radio One DJ, Reggie Yates brings together six young people with Tourette’s syndrome and takes them on a challenging musical journey. Ruth, Steve, Greg, Emily, Tom and Jake all are talented singers and musicians. But all must live with the challenges of life with Tourette’s syndrome: involuntary tics, movements and, in severe cases, swearing. It’s a disorder that affects more than 300,000 people across the UK and for which there is no cure.
The first two programmes in the series follow the group as they meet and train together for the first time, before the nail-biting finale in episode 3, where they put on their first ever performance in front of a live audience.
The series sees the return of Ruth Ojadi, who featured in the original documentary, and whose talent as a singer inspired Reggie Yates to bring together other talented people with Tourette’s syndrome.
Reggie Yates said of the series, “This is a series that I am passionate about. It follows six young people, all with amazing musical talents, and explores what it is like with this difficult condition.”
Tourettes: Let Me Entertain You airs on BBC Three at 9pm on Monday 10th, Monday 17th and Monday 24th September.
