Channel 5 has commissioned Transparent TV to produce a fast-turnaround, one-hour documentary which features the exclusive last interview with Pete Burns, it was announced today (TUES).

As part of their filming with Pete Burns for series seven of Celebrity Botched Up Bodies, Transparent TV had exclusive interview material filmed a few months before his death, and with the consent of his family, has produced a retrospective documentary about the singer’s life.

Pete Burns: The Last Interview, features rare footage from his last TV interview where Pete Burns speaks about his life, career, the pressures of fame, his need for surgery and his fantasy to re-invent himself as a work of art. The exclusive programme also features interviews with Dead or Alive band members, close friends and his husband Michael Simpson.

The documentary has been turned around in just 12 days from commission by Ninder Billing to delivery for transmission on 8th November at 10pm on Channel 5.

Managing Director, Creative Director and Executive Producer, Jazz Gowans, said: “We were privileged to have this access to Pete just months before his tragic death. He speaks eloquently and movingly about his life, and together with interviews from his family and friends this is a moving tribute and at times painfully honest insight in to a man who was controversial but clearly loved and respected by many.”
