Windfall Films Promotes Exec Trio As It Enters Its 30th Year

Windfall Films, part of the Argonon Group, is reorganising its senior management team as the company celebrates its most successful year since the company began over 30 years ago.

CEO David Dugan, co-founder of Windfall Films, will take on the role of Executive Chairman; Emmy award-winning producer and Company Director Carlo Massarellawill become CEO and Executive Producer Dan Kendall will become Creative Director. Alison Todd will remain as Managing Director.

Dugan has produced many ground-breaking factual series including Channel 4’s Mutiny; the BAFTA-winning series, Inside Nature’s Giants; the Emmy award-winning Your Inner Fish and Foxes Live: Wild in the City. Most recently he was executive producer on two critically acclaimed Horizons for the BBC: The Placebo Experiment and Body Clock – What Makes Us Tick? 

In his new role as Executive Chairman, he will continue to guide the company’s growth and focus on the company’s flagship projects. He will remain as a director of the Argonon Group.

Since joining Windfall Films in 1996, Carlo Massarella has devised and worked across a wide range of innovative and successful factual series and specials for British, North American and international broadcasters including BBC, PBS, Discovery and National Geographic Channels. These include the hit BBC2 series The Fifteen Billion Pound Railway; the award-winning PBS NOVA films Inside Chernobyl’s Mega Tomb and Eclipse Across America; and the popular international series Railroad AlaskaUnearthedBuilding Giants and My Floating Home

As CEO, Massarella will continue to spearhead Windfall’s international partnerships and co-productions to help further expand its range of ambitious content. 

Since joining Windfall as an Exec Producer in 2016 Kendall has been a key figure in the company’s growth, helping create and produce returnable formats for US and international markets. In the UK, his current production slate includes shows for Channel 4 and BBC Two, and central to his remit is to help uphold Windfall’s long-standing reputation for original, distinctive programme-making such as the recent BBC Four series, Magic Numbers: Hannah Fry’s Mysterious World of Maths and Chris & Michaela: Under the Christmas Sky which he exec produced.
